Verina is a young alternative/gothic model from Finland. She has been modelling for some years mainly in artistic photoshoots with alternative styles, but she is open to any interesting ideas. She is now also a clothing artisan, so many of the clothes and accessories you see her wear are made by herself.
1. How would you describe yourself?
This has always been a difficult question for me. I’m quite shy and reserved person at first with new people. I have a bad habit to start many projects (almost) at once and sometimes (because of that) some of them stay unfinished for a long time.
2. How did you start modeling?
I bumped into a local fetish photographer at a video store and he gave me his business card. After thinking it for a while and checking his website I decided to contact him and book a shoot. When the first shoot was over I realized it wasn’t as scary as I had thought, and modeling was a quite fun hobby. When I was younger I actually hated being in front of a camera and didn’t expect to be doing this on a purpose.
3. Why Alternative/Goth modeling, do you fell related to Alternative Goth life style?
Because alternative modeling is candy to the eye and I think it’s easier to fit your own style in it and use your creativity. I have always loved parts from gothic lifestyle, but I like to pick my own things from it. I really wouldn’t call myself a goth 😀
4. What is your favorite type of photo-shoot, studio or location?
It’s hard to say. I really like glamorous gothic pictures, latex photography and dark art. I’d like to do more horror-themed shoots and also to have shoots with animals. Nice locations is always what I prefer. During winter time I’d rather be shooting in a studio than outdoors.
5. In your amazing pictures we can see you many times as cyber-goth, latex and sexy looks, so I must say I’m a bit curious, how do you dress on your everyday life?
My everyday style is actually quite boring. I wear pretty simple clothes, usually dark colored. Since I’m obsessed with skulls it’s not a surprise you can find those on my clothes.
6. I know you don’t just design clothes and accessories, so you are involved on the creative part of a shoot as well, how is that like to you?
At many times we start planning the shoots from what I’m currently working on or have just sewn. So it’s really normal to me being involved with planning the shoot. It might be quite weird just go to a shoot without being thinking and stressing about what to wear and how to do the make-up and everything.
7. How can we buy one of your creations?
At the moment it’s quite hard to buy my creations unless you happen to find me selling it on the internet. I have been thinking, planning and dreaming about opening my own brand someday, but we’ll see what happens.
8. Do you have an idol or someone you look up to for inspiration?
One person I really admire is Ophelia Overdose. Well, she’s just an amazing model and such a talented designer.
9. Can you tell us a bit about the story behind the name Vertina?
I can’t remember every detail of how I came up with this name. When I was around 15 I was writing a short story and invented this character called Vertina into it. Later on I started to use the name on the internet, however, it was first Vertina von Raven. I dropped the last part from it about 10 years ago.
10. Do you have some other passions besides modelling, any hobbies you really enjoy?
Yes. I like to do different kinds of crafting, learning new ways to do things and so on. And, of course, sewing and making latex clothes. I also enjoy watching movies, reading books and spending time with friends.
11. So what more can we expect from you in the future, what are your main goals in life?
To be honest, I’m in a crossroads what I want to do with my life. Lately I have been missing motivation towards modeling and I my interest towards making clothes and styling have increased a lot. Who knows, maybe I will be doing more styling to other models and just start crafting more things. As I mentioned before, I have been thinking about starting my own business, so that is at least one of my goals in the future.
12.So not to take much of your time, you know you have many fans out there what is the message you would like to say to all them ?
I’m really surprised how many people are following my work and I’m really grateful for all the support I have been given! Just go your own way, follow your dreams and don’t let anyone bring you down!
