Cecile Monique is an up-and coming independent Gothic Rock/Symphonic Metal artist from Ontario, Canada. A classically-trained vocalist, composer and arranger, Cecile Monique represents a new generation of female-fronted metal acts and brings a modern voice to an established genre in the European rock scene, breathing new life into the style and attracting a new generation of listeners in North America and beyond.
Continuing in the legacy of seasoned female-fronted bands such as Within Temptation, Nightwish, Delain, and Epica, Cecile Monique’s larger-than-life operatic vocals and darkly opulent sound provide an excellent representation of the Gothic/Symphonic style in Canada. Cecile Monique recently made national and international news when she was chosen as one of only five worldwide finalists (and the only North American and Canadian finalist) in the M’era Luna Festival 2016 Newcomer Competition to play the main stage at the largest Gothic music festival in the world, M’era Luna, in Hildesheim, Germany. Cecile Monique’s music has received airplay on a number of radio stations, including CBC Radio, and the music video for her song “Kindred” was broadcast on the Telehit television channel in Mexico and Latin America.
In 2010, Cecile Monique was awarded the prestigious FACTOR New Talent Award in support of her self-titled EP release featuring three of her original songs recorded at Metalworks Studios, Canada’s #1 recording studio. In 2013, Cecile was selected for the national Wacken Metal Battle competition and was one of only a select few female-fronted acts in contention to represent Canada at the Wacken Metal Festival in Germany. Together with her live band, Cecile Monique’s powerful, distinctive musical style and charismatic stage presence firmly cement this up-and-coming artist in the international ‘watch list’ for the new generation of Gothic Rock/Symphonic Metal artists.
