The beautiful Katrin Lanfire is an alternative model and artist from Ukraine. Apart from her immaculate makeup art and styling that dominate in all her photoshoots, Katrin is also known as one of the designers of headdresses and accessories for the MyWitchery line. She expertly combines dark images, various clothes, accessories, and jewelry to create the perfect look. Let’s take a tour a know a bit more about Katrin.
1 – How would you describe yourself?
I’m Katrin Lanfire, an alternative model, fashion designer of gothic and witchy accessories, interested in fashion, art, photography, and occultism.
2 -When and how did you start modeling?
I started with modeling around 10 years ago. I always liked to try different images and express my personality through makeup and fashion and also had a lot of artistic friends. So it is not surprising that my first photo shootings took place because of my talented friends and acquaintances.
From the first time didn’t take it seriously, and only in 2016-17, I had more time and energy to develop myself in this direction.
3-Why alternative and Goth modeling, do you feel connected to the alternative community?
It’s absolutely natural because my modeling grew up on the base of the goth subculture.
Since I can remember I have been fascinated with mystical tales, history, spiritual beliefs of ancient times, unlike the other children, which probably made me kind of outsider at that point, but in the most positive side of the term, because it gave me an ability to generate my own creative way of perceptions of the world around me and naturally passed myself into the Gothic youth afterward, which I remain faithful to since then.
4 – Every model has its own “brand” (the thing that makes her stand out), what do you think your brand is?
Hmmm… Perhaps it’s “The gothic witch, obsessed with fashion, events, and travel”
5 – Does being also a photographer and stylist influence you as a model?
Actually, it was the other way around.
I started to learn about photography and styling more when I tried my modeling skills. It helps me to understand better what should I do upfront with the camera to get the best results.
6 – You do many different types of photoshoots, do you have a favorite genre of photography?
I love everything about dark fantasy, horror, sci-fi, and a bit of fetish. But sometimes, when I travel to such events, as Venice carnival or WGT, I make historically inspired shootings and enjoy them a lot.
7- Do you have any concepts for future shoots that you’re just dying to try out?
Sure! I have a big project with my favorite designer and friend Alice Corsets, but I don’t know, when exactly it will happen because of the COVID-19 situation. It’s going to be high fashion dark fairytale series with several outfits and my headdresses.
8- Can you tell us a bit about your Brand MyWitchery?
Above all this brand is the product of a friendship between two people who shared a huge interest in occult mysticism and a love for fantasy and historical fashion. It’s my dear friend Alexey Verbitskiy ( IG @bassarid_witch ) and me.
From the beginning, it used to be more of a hobby when we were together creating various headpieces, wigs, and accessories for our own use in professional shootings or during festivals or costume balls, but step by step during years, while our skills and ideas were growing more and more, we have decided to share our creations with the other people basing it on our very own experience. And that is how MyWitchery as a brand has been born.
I’m an official owner and designer of most headdresses and Alexey creates all our exquisite rococo wigs.
9- How would you describe your style as a designer and what do you try to portray in your designs?
It has a lot to do with my modeling and lifestyle, so it’s mostly historically inspired gothic, fantasy, and pagan pieces for balls, shootings, shows, festivals, and gothic weddings. In my projects, I try to show my vision of dark beauty and share it with like-minded people.
10 – What about materials, which ones do you prefer to work with?
It’s metal, high-quality lace, quartz crystals, and rhinestones.
11- You make very beautiful and unique exclusive pieces but do you ever accept special requests from clients?
Thank you very much for so kind words! Yes, of course! Some requests could be “not my cup of tea” ( like a cosplay, for example ) but if this is an interesting project and corresponds to my idea of beauty, I am always ready to accept this challenge and create something new and unique.
13-From all your amazing and unique designs can you pick one favorite?
Ahahaha, not sure, because it’s always the newest design which I made.
14 – Where do you go for inspiration? Do you have some idol or someone you look up to?
The inspiration for my creations and outfits was drained by folklore, ancient mythology, and fairy tales, and also theatrical or opera performances, high fashion shows, epic movies, and books.
15- How about being an ambassador for Danza Luna, how does that make you feel?
I’m incredibly glad and proud to be a part of such a great project!
I’m deeply honored to invite you to the next event DANZA LUNA “Noblesse Eternelle” at the opulent ballrooms of the Opera Of Ghent, to enjoy the delights of an exclusive evening with memorable meetings, enchanting music, a luxury buffet dinner, a fantastic runway show and many more!
I have my fingers crossed that the situation in the world will not prevent our meeting from taking place this year, but in any case, I highly recommend visiting this event someday!
16 – What do you consider to be your biggest career highlights so far?
It’s a quite complicated question because we can measure success in different ways.
For some, this is popularity, for others – earnings, for me it is, first of all, new opportunities and friendship with amazingly talented people from around the world
17 – What can we expect from you in the future? What are your biggest goals in life?
In these difficult times, it is complicated to plan something with confidence, so I would say that my biggest plan for the nearest future is not to stop on the path of development. And, of course, you’ll see more shootings, more collaborations, and new collections of accessories.
18 – Do you have some other passions besides modeling, any hobbies you really enjoy and can’t live without?
Since my two biggest hobbies have become my profession, I can say that my other favorite activities are dancing and reading.
19- Name three things you simply cannot go without every single day.
Coffee, music, a deck of Tarot cards
20 – You look amazing in your modeling outfits! What do you wear when you’re ‘off duty’?
Thank you once again! In my casual life prefer dark boho, nu goth, urban, and grunge styles, unusual sunglasses, large jewelry, and a minimum of makeup.
21 – Well, I don’t want to abuse your time, just one last question; You have many fans out there. What message would you like to leave for them?
I would like to sincerely thank you for your support and virtually hug you all! I really hope that my work inspires you to create your own pieces of art. I am sure that all the people gathered here have diverse talents, so I wish you not to stop looking for your own path, be curious and support each other along the way.
